Where to Go for Assistance

In High School the guidance office may be a place to visit if you needed help. You may have even had a teacher, coach, or director that had an impact on your life. You may encounter the same kind of stressors at college, as in high school. Even though you may be nervous about telling someone how you feel. It does help you to feel better and make an informed decision.

The Counseling Center

At the community college : Is where you will usually find one stop shopping. Here you may find people to help with personal issues, financial aid, academic advising, learning disability issues (usually have a dedicated office as per the ADA act), mentoring programs, transfer counseling, learning workshop opportunities and career/major counseling

At the College/University that you attend : EACH area stated above may have their own office. Some of these crucial offices may be:

  • You probably received a student handbook at some point. Look for the location and numbers in there. A student will only be their MOST successful if they use their resources.
